Salma Allam

Background:

A dancer turned holistic movement expert, Salma’s journey through pain and healing became her greatest teacher. Born in Vancouver and trained in New York City, she weaves together a rich tapestry of movement modalities—Pilates, Yoga, Meditation, and Sound~Healing—each informed by profound personal transformation. Pilates though, will always be her first love, helping her dance when she could barely walk, finding strength daily in this profound system of movement

Why I teach:

When a back injury threatened to keep me off stage for my first choreographic work, I was devastated. Then I met my mentor, Julie Peterson, and everything changed. She brought me back to life—getting me on that stage when others said it was impossible. On days I could barely walk, she had me moving. I teach because I want to create that same space for others, to offer the gift of this movement system, the way it was given to me.

What I’ve learned from Contrology:

Contrology has taught me there is always a way. No matter the circumstance, injury, or stage of life you’re in, there is always a path to move through it. This practice has shown me how to find strength in all its forms while creating subtle connections that invigorate the mind, body, and soul. My mission: Creating a sanctuary through movement, helping individuals unlock their intuitive wisdom and find freedom in mind, body, and soul.

Education:

Comprehensive Classical Pilates Certification from Core Pilates NYC. 500-hour Yoga Certification from ISHTA (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda). Additionally, certified in MELT Method (Level 5), Sound Healing, Yoga Nidra, and Restorative Practices
